Teenage Health

We are here for you to help you to answer and questions that you may have about your health.  We can give you advice and guidance on any issues related to bullying, nutrition, eating disorders, sexual health , stress, family problems, relationship problems, general health or anything else that may be worrying you.

We have specialist help available for you, many of these services are delivered through drop in sessions which you can just turn up at, or you can make an appointment to be seen.  These include:

School nurse – your school nurse can help you with any health problems you may have any immunisations you need and she can offer you emotional support.  You can get information, leaflets and advice or she can help you to  access other services.  Appointments can be made or there is a drop in session every week.

Counselling – Your school counsellor is there to help you with any emotional problems that you may have.  She can help you to deal with things from your past or issues affecting you now.  Family counselling is also available to help you and your family to deal with problems which may be affecting you.

Stop Smoking Service – Smoking is one of the most addictive habits and harder to quit than most, which is why we have help for you in the form of a stop smoking service.

 

General Health and Nutrition – If you have any concerns or worries about your health, weight or fitness you can come along and get some confidential advice form our Teennage Health Co-ordinator.  She can help you with food diaries and/or eating plans.

Health Ambassadors  - We have a number of students in school who are trained as Health Ambassadors, they are easily identified by their red hooded jumpers and if you have any problems whilst at school they are there to help you, please do approach them.

Peer mentors – There are student peer mentors in school who you may go and see if you have any issues around friendship groups or anything that you feel that you would like to talk to someone your own age about.  Drop in sessions are advertised on the notice boards or email activehealth@ladybridgehigh.co.uk

Additional sessions

Regular sessions take place focused on health and fitness such as yoga, aerobics, Pilates, cooking workshops and holiday fitness activities.  Please see the notice boards for updated information.

Have a look at the notice boards which are located in the Science corridor for information on when the drop in sessions are being held.  Alternatively you can email activehealth@ladybridgehigh.co.uk for further information or drop in  to the active health room were we have leaflets giving information on a wide range of issues.

How do I make an appointment?

You can access any of the above services or sessions through the teenage health room, by either booking an appointment via emailing us at activehealth@ladybridgehigh.co.uk or just drop in to one of the drop in sessions

Is it confidential because I don’t want anyone to know>

You will be supported with any problems you may share, but if in our opinion, you have been, or are at significant risk from yourself or from others we may have to share this information with others who can help.

Can I bring a friend with me?

Of course you can, whatever makes you feel more comfortable.  They can come in with you if you prefer or wait outside in out waiting area.

 

What do I do if school is closed and I need to speak to somebody about a health problem that I have?
